Lesson_Plan: Colors_3

Our plan for today!

''Dear parents & children,
Today is the last lesson about colors, so we are going to revise, learn the rest of them and do some mixing to create colors.''

Subject: Color mixing

Key terms: black, gray, white, brown, mix
Materials and preparation: computer/tablet, lego duplo, printer, colorful pom poms, tempera paints, white paper/cardboard, flashcards, tods/spoon (optional), egg case/muffin tray, brushes or ear cleaners
Learning objectives: Introduce the colors black, white, gray and brown, mix them up and create lighter and darker colors.

➤Introduction

To begin with, we are going to use the flashcards introducing the new colors: black, white, brown, gray. Please keep the cards in your hands, show one by one all the colors and ask each time
what is the color. Give the card with the color every time they answer correctly. Like this you can
check which colors they know, reward them for the right answer, support and help them for the
wrong one, it’s ok.

➤Action game
We continue with the flashcards. Ask your children to lay all
the colors on the floor. You have to call one color at the time and they have to touch the right card.
After that, they have to take the card, find an object or a place in the house with the same color
and place it there. So now you have a matching activity. Meanwhile, you can work on some
vocabulary by naming the objects they leave the card on, like brown door, yellow lemon, etc.
Be careful not to overload your kids with information.
*Note: You and your child can create your own moves for color black, white, gray and brown because they are not included. Use your imagination! Have fun!

➤Sing n' dance
Get ready to sing and dance! You can watch or listen to this music video and follow
the moves. ⇒https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EWNNpHYcss
Lyrics:
-Wave your arms if you like red, red, red, red!
-Stomp your feet if you like yellow, yellow, yellow, yellow!
-Clap your hands if you like pink, pink, pink, pink!
-Shake your body if you like green, green. green, green!
-Play guitar if you like purple, purple, purple, purple!
-Spin around if you like orange, orange, orange, orange!
-Jump up & down if you like blue, blue, blue, blue!
➤Fine motor activity
I hope that you all have some colorful pom poms at home. This activity is about color
sorting. Put all the pom poms in a bowl/box and give your child a spoon or a safe tool
like tongs to grab the pom poms. They will love it. You also need a muffin tray or an egg
case and color each egg place with different color. Use markers, temperas, even colored
stickers if you have. The kids have to transfer successfully the pom poms in the right place.
*Note: If you don’t have pom poms, you can use lego bricks the same way or colored crepe paper balls.

➤Lego constructions
All you need is lego bricks and your creativity to make color pattern so the kids can follow
the sequence. They have to follow the pattern of the colors and place the right brick.
⇛First of all, let’s warm up by building simple towers by color-red tower, yellow, blue, etc.
Now you can continue gradually with 3-4 bricks combinations and use more later. You can put
them in a line or one on top of the other. The combinations are numerous. Instead of lego bricks
I’m using below hearts just to show you.
Example 1.💙💚💙💚💙_ What color comes after? Find the right brick. Make clear to the children
what they have to do. You can make the sequence as long as you want.

💛💙💜💛💙💜_ _ _

Example2.
Put many colours and ask your child to repeat the same tower.

↠It is a very good activity to develop their eye perception and coordination skills.

➤Arts & Crafts
It is time for some mixing! Use an A4 page and draw some circles like this O + O= O. Use tempera paints, one color in the first circle, another one in the second and both of
them in the third. Otherwise, you can just mix them together in the middle of the 2 circles. You can use small brushes or ear cleaners for fun (they are small and soft to use)!
💥Note: Do not forget to highlight the mixing with white and black! Ask you children what
they think it’s going to happen if they mix a color with white and what is going to happen if
they mix it with black. Then, prove them how the colors are becoming lighter by adding white and darker by adding black. Use a few colors to test it.

⤿ Let the children use all of these new colors that you have created and paint a freestyle picture to express themselves.

''I hope you liked the color project! See you soon with a new one!''

Our plan for today!

Subject: RAINBOW COLORS

Key terms: rainbow, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink

Materials and preparation: computer or tablet, scissors, glue, colored paper (blue, red,
yellow, orange, green, purple, pink, white), markers, fingerpaints
You might need (look below): flour, water, salt, food color, paper plates.

Learning objectives:
Learn the rainbow colors, identify and distinguish orange, purple, pink and green.

➤ Introduction
In order to test the knowledge and memory of your children, show some flashcards with
the colors and ask if they know each of them. Use any color flashcards you can find online. You
can also draw your color splash and ask from your child to paint it for each color.

➤ SongIn the link below you can find the rainbow song where colors are introduced in order one
by one. Help the children to sing and repeat the colors. It is necessary to watch the video so
the children can match the name of the color with the picture of it. If you don’t have access to a screen, you can sing the song and show each time the right flashcard with the called color.

➤E-book
This online book with no description pictures is very interesting and small. It is about color
orange and how it is made. The challenge is your children to see the pictures and try to
describe what is happening in the story using their imagination. Support their thoughts
and encourage their attempt to develop their speech.

➤Arts & Crafts
1. All of us are so happy when we see a rainbow! What about creating one? The materials you
need are scissors, glue, a white A4 or paper plate cutted in half, markers and colored papers
(red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple and pink - if you want) or tissue paper can work as well.
You and your children can practise cutting the papers with scissors or you can tear them apart in small pieces. Do not forget to draw curved lines with colored markers to make a rainbow so as
the kids can see and follow where they have to place the right color and stick the paper.

2. Another idea is to create colored water using your recycled bottles. Fill them till the middle and
throw some pieces of crepe paper in and wait a few mintutes for it. Shake bottles and ready to play.
You can also try to mix some colors.

3. Another way, more sensory, to create a rainbow is to paint it with the hands! Activities like this
is children’s most favorite! All you need is a white piece of paper and finger paints. Again you can
help by drawing the colored lines in order for the kids to use them as a driver to paint with finger
dots. Moreover, if you have a very large paper you can even use handprints and make a family craft all together! Get ready for the mess, it’s ok!😃😅

Alternative
In case you don’t have finger paint, there is a solution. Make your own!
↪INGREDIENTS:
-½ cup of flour
-½ cup of water
-¼ cup of salt
-food coloring
👉Mix the flour with the salt and the color with the water separately.
Add the liquids in the solids and stir very well. Ready!

➤Educational online games
It is time for your children to experience the numerous potentials there are on the Internet using
a computer or tablet. Here are two options of an educational software I can suggest, very easy
to use with your help of course.

http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/preschool/colors/colorgame.htm
In this game you have 5 colored frames and many pictures on top classified by color, which you have to drag and drop in the right frame. Be a model for your child and show how to do it. You can ask to name the color of the item that is dragged everytime.

http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/preschool/ngames/colors.htm
This game is about sorting items by color blue, red, yellow, orange, purple and green. You
are helping a colored monster to tidy up so it’s going to be funny for the children.

➤Action game
You can play a simple and energetic game using the flashcards that you have already. What you have to do is to spread around the house the colored flash cards. After that explain to your children that they have to go and find the color you call and do an action you prospose. You can use a little song to make it funnier like: “Where is red? Where is red?Go to the red, go to the red”. Like this they can match what they hear with what thesee working on the visual and hearing perception. Every time they find a colored card, suggesta different movement for the color. For example 'Jump on the red, clap on thegreen, sit on the pink, tap your knees on the blue, hop on the orange, spin on the purple'
